We want your college student to be successful throughout their career at the Columbus State University. They need a good foundation and support to gain this success. At The Lowell, we want to help support their productivity by giving them access to shared and private study lounges. We want to keep them healthy with an on-site state-of-the-art fitness center. The Lowell meets every need that your student will have while in college so they can achieve what they came here for in an enjoyable atmosphere.

For Students

Do you have to be a student to live at The Lowell?

We lease to anyone that meets our criteria. We offer individual leases, which means we do roommate matching. This type of housing is beneficial for students and all that do not mind having a roommate.

What is individual leasing?

 Individual leasing is when you are responsible solely for your portion of the lease. That way if you roommate moves out your rent doesn't go up because you each have your own contract.

What (utilities are) is included in the rent?

The Lowell rent includes: Internet, water, sewer, trash & recycling, washer & dryer, and access to all of The Lowell’s amenities, and a wonderful staff that is there to help you anytime you need them. Electricity has a cap that differs depending on your floorplan and you'll split the overages with your roommates.

Do you allow pets?

Yes, we are pet friendly. We allow cats and dogs under 50 pounds and have a non-refundable pet fee of $400 with a monthly pet rent of $15.

Do you require renter's insurance?

Yes, we do require $300,000 personal liability renter's insurance

What is your policy on breaking a lease?

The Lowell’s lease is binding and cannot be broken. If you cannot live at The Lowell after signing your lease, you will need to re-let. Please call the leasing office for information on re-letting.

What furniture is provided?

 The Lowell comes fully equipped with a full size bed, dresser, night stand, desk, and desk chair for the bedroom and a sofa, arm chair, coffee table, end table, dining table and dining chairs (dining bar and dining chairs depending upon floorplan) for the common area as well as a refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, stove/oven and washer & dryer.

Do you offer roommate matching? I don't have a roommate, what should I do?

 Yes, we offer a roommate matching system. If you don’t have anyone in mind that you would like to live with, let us match you up with someone! There is a Roommate Matching Sheet that you will fill out to let us know more about what you’re looking for in a roommate. Then, we spend weeks in the summer figuring out the best match for you based on that information.

What is a guarantor?

A guarantor is like a cosigner. They will be legally bound to the lease.

What personal belongings should I bring to move in?

We suggest that you bring:

  • Bedding for a Full-Size bed
  • Toiletries
  • Dishes/Cookware
  • Decorations to make your new room feel like home!

What will I need to pick up my keys?

  • Pay application fee $150 ($200 with guarantor)
  • Pay deposit $150+ (depending upon application screening results)
  • Pay first month's rental installment on August 1st
  • Renter's Insurance ($300,000 personal liability through any provider)
